David Dixon is an English actor and screenwriter. He was born at Nightingale Maternity Home in Derby, near his father's store on London Street, and grew up there before the family moved to Normanton in 1959. Dixon's most notable role was in the television series. BBC The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy 1981, in which he starred as Ford Prefect. He also received critical acclaim for his role as Ariel in the 1980 BBC version of The Tempest. He later joined The Hitchhiker's Guide by voicing "Ecological Man" and "Zirzla Leader" in the Fit the Twentieth radio series, while Geoffrey McGivern, who originally played the character on the radio, took on the role of Gué. Despite a relatively sparse film and television career, David Dixon has for many years acquired a loyal online fan who calls himself "Dixonites".
