John Griffith London is an American novelist, journalist and social activist. A pioneer of American business novels and magazines, he was one of the first American authors to become an international celebrity and earn a fortune writing. He was also a creator of what would later become known as science fiction. His most famous works include The Call of the Wild and the White Fang, both set in the Klondike Gold Rush, as well as short stories "To Build a Fire", "An Odyssey of the North" and " Love of Life ". He has also written about the South Pacific in stories such as "The Pearls of Parlay" and "The Heathen". London is part of the radical literary group "The Crowd" of San Francisco and is a strong advocate of union, workers' rights, socialism and eugenics. He has written a number of books dealing with these topics, such as the reverse novel The Iron Heel, his non-fictional exhibition The People of the Abyss, Class Wars, and Before Adam.

American adventure novelist best known for The Call of the Wild and White Fang, as well as short stories like To Build a Fire and The Pearls of Parlay. He was also a well-known worker's rights activist, with his non-fiction work The People of the Abyss exposing the dreadful working conditions and lifestyles of London's impoverished.
