John Woolman was an American businessman, tailor, journalist, Quaker missionary, and the first colonialist abolitionist. Based in Mount Holly, near Philadelphia, he traveled across the United States to preach the Quaker faith, while campaigning against slavery and the slave trade, animal cruelty, injustice and oppression. economic, and constraint. The Journal of John Woolman, a posthumously released work, was featured in the first edition of the Harvard Classics anthology.
