Astrology Birth Chart of Peter Winter

Peter Winter is a German opera composer who followed Mozart and preceded Weber, acting as a bridge between the two in the development of German opera. Winter was born in Mannheim. A violin prodigy, he played in the Mannheim Royal Orchestra. He studied with Antonio Salieri in Vienna. Moved to Munich in 1778, he became director of the Royal Theater at that time, he began to write theatrical productions, first ballets and melodramas. He became Deputy Kapellmeister in Munich in 1787 and Kapellmeister in 1798, a title he retained for the rest of his life. Of the more than thirty operas written by Winter between 1778 and 1820, very few failed. His most famous work, Das unterbrochene Opferfest, was produced in 1796 in Vienna, where in 1797-1798 he composed Die Pyramiden von Babylon and Das Labyrinth oder Der Kampf mit den Elementen, both of which were written to him by Emanuel Schikaneder , to continue the story of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. He returned to Munich in 1798.

This late 18th and early 19th-century German composer is most known for popular operas such as Maometto, Das unterbrochene Opferfest, and Die Pyramiden von Babylon, but he also composed liturgical music and concertos.
