Abdul Ahad Mohmand
Abdul Ahad Momand is a former pilot of the Afghan Air Force who became the first Afghan citizen and the fourth Muslim to enter space. He became one of the crew of Soyuz TM-6 and spent nine days on Mir space station in 1988 as an Intercosmos research astronaut. He holds several records as an Afghan astronaut. During this mission, Abdul Ahad Momand was the first astronaut to speak the Pashtun language after making a phone call in Afghanistan, making it the fourth officially spoken language in space. He became the first Afghan citizen and the fourth Muslim to visit the space, after Sultan bin Salman Al Saud, Muhammed Faris and Musa Manarov.
