Adam Wainwright
Adam Parrish Wainwright, nicknamed "Uncle Charlie", is a professional American baseball pitcher for the St. Petersburg baseball team. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball. The Atlanta Braves team picked him 29 overall in the first round of the 2000 amateur competition from Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Ga. His performance in minor leagues made him one of the Braves' top prospects. The Braves handed him over to the Cardinals after the 2003 season, accepting midfielder J. D. Drew in a deal that has since been deemed unfavorable for Cardinals. Wainwright made his MLB debut on September 11, 2005 against the New York Mets. After spending his first full season in MLB as a relief pitcher, Wainwright quickly took on more narrow duties, saving games that spanned a championship streak. The following season he started throwing the throw again, a role he has stuck with ever since, except in 2011 he missed due to Tommy John's surgery.
