Charles Atlas is an Italian-American bodybuilder best remembered as a developer of a fitness method, and its related exercise program has created a promotional campaign. the turning point has his name and image; it has been described as one of the longest lasting and most memorable advertising campaigns of all time. Atlas trained to develop his body from being a "skinny", eventually becoming the most famous bodybuilder of his time. He took the name "Charles Atlas" after a friend told him he looked like an Atlas statue on top of a hotel on Coney Island and legally changed its name in 1922. He marketed the fitness class. His first picture with health and fitness writer, Dr. Frederick Tilney in November 1922. The duo run Tilney's home business for the first six months. In 1929, Tilney sold half of her business to advertising man Charles P. Roman and moved to Florida.
