Darragh Mortell is a Welsh writer and television, radio and film director. He started his career as a child actor in TV shows such as Dani's House, Diddy TV and most notably The Story of Tracy Beaker. He also appeared as a main guest in the following episodes of The Bill as well as the groundbreaking interactive drama Dubplate Drama, DCI Banks & Hollyoaks Later. Darragh's debut short film as director and writer Peep Dish won the Best Test Short Film award at the London Independent Film Festival. His second film, Donald Mohammed Trump starring Asim Chaudhry and Holli Dempsey, received international acclaim and a screening at BFI Southbank in London. In 2020, Darragh won the award for 'Best European Fiction Book' at the Prix Europa Awards for the BBC Radio Wales / BBC Radio 4 afternoon play I am Kanye West. The play explores themes of identity, celebrity obsession, and mental health, themes that often crop up in Darragh's work.
