Kate Elizabeth Piper is an English writer, activist, television presenter and model from Andover, Hampshire. In March 2008, she was acid attacked by her ex-boyfriend and co-conspirators, causing serious facial injuries and blindness in one eye. Piper underwent a creative surgery to restore his face and eyesight. The two attackers were convicted and sentenced to life in prison. In 2018, one of the attackers was released after serving a 9-year prison sentence. In 2009, Piper gave up his right to anonymity to raise awareness of burn victims. Her experience was recorded in the 2009 documentary Katie: My Beautiful Face on Channel 4, which was part of the Cut Edge series. It was later sold to international markets. Most recently, Piper appeared in the next Channel 4 series, publishing the best-selling autobiography and regularly appearing in weekly magazines.
