His son wrestled as well as Perro Aguayo Jr. or El Hijo del Perro Aguayo. He is one of the biggest box office raffle figures in lucha libre history and El Santo's last great rival. Often easy to make mistakes, Aguayo has been described by American experts as a cross between Terry Funk and Bruno Sammartino. He is the first to be crowned WWF Light Heavyweight Champion, although championships prior to 1997 are not in official WWE history for that title. In 2012, Aguayo was inducted into the AAA Hall of Fame.
