Goldberg is famous for its popular cartoons depicting complex devices that perform simple tasks in an indirect and complex way. Animation led to the phrase "Rube Goldberg Machine" to describe similar utilities and processes. Goldberg received many honors throughout his life, including the Pulitzer Prize for Political Animation in 1948, the Gold T-Square award from the National Cartoonists Society in 1955 and the Silver Lady award from the Banshees in 1959. He was the founding member and first president of the National Cartoonist Association, which hosts the annual Reuben Awards, honoring the best animator of the year and named after Goldberg, won the award in 1967, which the organization considers the Cartoonist of the Year. .
