Sean S. Cunningham
Sean Sexton Cunningham is an American filmmaker, director, producer and writer. He is best known for directing and producing a number of horror films, beginning in the early 1970s. Growing up in Connecticut, Cunningham graduated from Franklin & Marshall College before earning his Masters of Fine Arts. from Stanford University. After graduating, he worked as a director for various theater companies, including New York's Lincoln Center and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. While working for a New York City documentary company, Cunningham first directed feature films with The Art of Marriage. While editing his second film, he met Wes Craven, with whom he collaborated as the producer of the horror movie run by Craven, The Last House on the left. Cunningham then co-created and directed the Friday The 13th Killer, which was a huge box office hit. He produced a number of horror movies throughout the 1980s, including House and its sequel House II: The Second Story.
