Steve Sohmer is a Shakespeare scholar, author of fiction and non-fiction, writer and television producer, and former director of film and television studios. In 1966, his first novel, The Way It Was, was published by Robert Gottlieb of Simon & Schuster. The book has received positive reviews and was voted one of the twenty best novels of the year by the New York Times. In 1967, Sohmer was appointed Creative Director of the Advertising Bureau of the American Newspaper Publishers Association. In 1972, Sohmer left Office to start his own media promotion company in partnership with The Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company. Over the next five years, the New York-based company created sales slideshows and films for media clients. In 1977, Sohmer was appointed Vice President, Marketing and Promotion, of CBS Television Network. Sohmer oversees the marketing activities of CBS Entertainment, CBS News and CBS Sports.
