Art Lande ist ein amerikanischer Musiker, der am 5. Februar 1947 in New York, USA, geboren wurde. Lande wurde in New York geboren und begann im Alter von vier Jahren Klavier zu spielen. Er besuchte das Williams College und zog 1969 nach San Francisco. 1973 nahm er Red Lanta auf, ein Duettalbum mit dem norwegischen Musiker Jan Garbarek. Mit Mark Isham an der Trompete gründete er 1976 die Gruppe Rubisa Patrol. Sie traten in der Bay Area auf und tourten ausgiebig mit Trucks durch Europa. Die Gruppe stellte zwei Rekorde für ECM auf: Rubisa Patrol, Desert Marauders und einen für 1750 Arch Records, The Story of Ba-Ku. Anfang der 1980er Jahre lehrte Lande am Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle. Er zog in die Schweiz, wo er an einer Jazzschule in St. Petersburg unterrichtete. Gallen. 1987 zog er nach Boulder, Colorado, um an der Naropa University zu lehren. Lande hat viele Kompositionen geschrieben, ist aber auch für seine ungewöhnlichen und eigenartigen Interpretationen von populären Standards und Jazz bekannt.
