James Simon Wallis Hunt ist ein englischer Rennfahrer, der 1976 die Formel-1-Weltmeisterschaft gewann. Nach seinem Rücktritt vom Rennsport 1979 wurde Hunt Medienkommentator und Geschäftsmann. Hunt begann seine Rennkarriere im Tourenwagenrennen und wechselte in die Formel 3, wo er die Aufmerksamkeit des Hesketh Racing Teams auf sich zog und sich schnell ihren Reihen anschloss. Hunts oft rücksichtslose und actionreiche Trail-Heldentaten haben ihm den Spitznamen "Hunt the Shunt" eingebracht. Hunt kam 1973 in die Formel 1 und fuhr das Auto im März 731, zusammen mit dem Team von Hesketh Racing. Er gewann für Hesketh und fuhr sein eigenes Auto Hesketh 308 sowohl bei Weltmeisterschafts- als auch bei Nicht-Meisterschaftsrennen, bevor er Ende 1975 zum McLaren-Team wechselte. In seinem ersten Jahr bei McLaren wechselte Hunt zum McLaren Mannschaft. gewann 1976 die Weltmeisterschaft und blieb weitere zwei Jahre im Team, jedoch mit weniger Erfolg, bevor er Anfang 1979 zum Team Wolf wechselte.
