Olive Thomas ist eine amerikanische Stummfilmschauspielerin, Kunst- und Fotomodell. Thomas begann seine Karriere als Illustrator im Jahr 1914 und kam im folgenden Jahr zu Ziegfeld Follies. September 1920 starb Thomas fünf Tage nach der Einnahme des Anti-Syphilis-Medikaments Quecksilberdichlorid ihres Mannes in Paris, das akute Nephritis verursachte. Obwohl sein Tod auf einen Unfall zurückzuführen war, wurden Nachrichten über seinen Krankenhausaufenthalt und seinen Tod in der Presse berichtet. Der Tod von Thomas gilt als einer der ersten Hollywood-Skandale, über die weithin berichtet wird.
