Seine Heimat verlieh den Titel "Shilpacharya" "Großer Kunstlehrer" für seine künstlerischen Qualitäten und Weitsicht. Er war ein Pionier der modernen Kunstbewegung in Bangladesch und wurde von Syed Manzoorul Islam kurz nach der Anerkennung Bangladeschs als unabhängige Republik als Vater der modernen Kunst in Bangladesch angesehen.
