Alar Kotli is an Estonian architect. He studied sculpture at the Pallas Art School in Tartu in 1922–23 and mathematics at Tartu University. He graduated from Gdańsk University of Technology in 1927 as an architect. Among the most famous and influential Estonian architects, Kotli created a number of important monuments in Tallinn. These include the Estonian Song Festival campus, the main building of the University of Tallinn, the Arts Foundation building and the Kadriorg Park administrative building in collaboration with architect Olev Siinmaa. Kotli also created many pilot apartment construction projects, which were widely used after WWII when demand for new housing was severe. In the 1950s, small buildings were used as lottery jackpots. Kotli's style has changed over the years. For example, he designed many functionalist buildings in the 1930s - schools in Rakvere and Tapa.
