Sir Clive Hubert Lloyd is a former Guyan cricketer who played for the West Indies cricket team. As a child he attended Chatham High School in Georgetown. At the age of 14, he was the captain of his school's cricket team in the prestigious inter-school Chin Cup competition. One of his childhood memories is watching Garry Sobers mark two centuries for the West Indies and Pakistan to perch on a tree outside on the ground above the screen. In 1971 he was named Wisden Cricketer of the Year. He was captain of the West Indies from 1974 to 1985 and oversaw their rise to become the dominant nation in test play, a position abandoned only in the second half of the 1990s. Among the most successful test captains of all time: while 'He was captain, the team had 27 inconclusive games, including 11 consecutive wins. He is the first West Indian player to have 100 international caps.
