Her two films were screened in the Uncertainty category at Cannes: Through a Open Window in 1992 and Judy Berlin in 1999, which won the Direction award at the 1999 Sundance Film Festival. 3 Backyards, which also won an Achievement Award at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, made him the only person in history to receive the honor twice. Mendelsohn also co-wrote the screenplay for the 2017 film Love After Love with Russell Harbaugh. He teaches at the School of Arts at Columbia University in New York. Mendelsohn is one of five siblings. One of his brothers was author and critic Daniel Mendelsohn.
