Greg Fishel is a former WRAL-TV meteorologist in Raleigh, North Carolina. He received a Bachelor of Meteorology from Pennsylvania State University in 1979. Fishel began his career in broadcast meteorology in 1979 with WMDT in Salisbury, Maryland. He joined WRAL in 1981 and became the station's chief meteorologist in 1989. He resigned from the WRAL News group in February 2019. In late 2019, Fishel joined Priogen Energy in Raleigh as an atmospheric scientist. For much of his career, Fishel has taken a stance on climate change as opposed to a consensus on climate. However, he started working on this in 2005, and in 2015 he was involved in a climate documentary. During his final five years with WRAL, Fishel made strong statements against climate change. Fishel is the first certified broadcast meteorologist in the United States.
