Herbert Kasper is an American fashion designer known as Kasper. He studied English and Advertising at New York University and Fashion at the Parsons School of Design in New York from 1951 to 1953 and at the Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in 1953. He has left NYU to serve in the United States Army in Europe. After World War II, he enrolled in Parsons where he became the boss of grinder Fred Frederics. After graduating, he returned to Paris for two years to develop his design skills while working for Jacques Fath, Christian Dior and Marcel Rochas. Upon his return to the United States, he worked for Frederics at Mr. John's. Kasper's talent was to make cheap clothes "sophisticated" and expensive, which led him to take an interest in a number of other Seventh Avenue producers in the 1950s. Costume design for Penart, Lord & Taylor in New York. His work is known as Kasper de Penart. In the 1960s, he started making clothes under his own brand.
