She went everywhere to promote what she said was peaceful conflict resolution - including leading "civic diplomacy" missions in Iran, the Gaza Strip and Afghanistan. Evans served in California Governor Jerry Brown's cabinet and managed his 1992 presidential campaign. Evans is a co-founder of the anti-war female activist group Code Pink with Medea Benjamin and others. She is chair of the board of directors of the Tropical Forest Action Network, an organization whose mission is to conserve forests, protect the climate and protect human rights by challenging corporate power and inherent injustice. She was married to Max Palevsky until her death on May 5, 2010 and now lives in Venice, California.
