Junior Wells is an American blues singer, harmonica and artist from Chicago. He was one of the pioneers of the blues amplified harp style associated with Chicago. Wells is best known for his 1965 signature song "Messin 'with the Kid" and Hoodoo Man Blues, described by critic Bill Dahl as "one of the truly classic blues albums of the 1960s". Wells has performed and recorded with various famous blues musicians including Muddy Waters, Earl Hooker and Buddy Guy. He has remained a staple of blues music throughout his career and also joined the rock audience on tour with the Rolling Stones. Shortly before Wells died, blues historian Gerard Herzhaft called him "one of the few active survivors of the 'golden age of blues'."
