Keith John Moon is a British drummer for the rock group Who. He is known for his unique, eccentric, self-destructive style and drug addiction. Moon grew up in Alperton, a suburb of Wembley, Middlesex, and played drums in the early 1960s. After playing with a local band, Beachcombers, he joined Who in 1964 before recording their first single . Moon is known for his style of drums, which emphasizes tam-tams, cymbals and drums. During Moon's tenure with his Who drum set, he was noted as one of the first rock drummers to regularly use double basses in his set. Moon sometimes collaborated with other musicians and later appeared in films, but still considered playing in Who as his main profession and remained a member of the band until his death.
