Michel Jean Pierre Verne is a writer, publisher and son of Jules Verne. Michel was born in Paris, France. Because of his rebellious behavior, he was sent by his father to the penal colony of Mettray for six months in 1876. At 19, he caused a scandal by running away with an actress in defiance of betrayal, the counterpart of his famous father. In 1883, his father finally arrived and Michel married - to abandon his new wife and run away with 16-year-old Jeanne Reboul, with whom he had two children before the divorce was completed. These and other issues caused a lot of tension between Michel and his father, but by the time Jules died in 1905 the relationship between them had improved and they collaborated on several sentences. Michel is responsible for publishing several of his father's last manuscripts, and there are rumors that Michel wrote some of them on his own.
