Nick Toczek is an English writer and performer who works on a variety of occasions as a poet, journalist, magician, singer, lyricist and broadcaster. He grew up in Bradford, then graduated in industrial metallurgy at the University of Birmingham, where he began reading and publishing his poetry. In Moseley, Birmingham, until 1977 he founded the poetry magazine The Little Word Machine, which published a number of books and pamphlets in small newspapers, co-founded the Moseley Community Arts Festival and toured with his troupe musical and poetic, The Stereo. Graffiti only. Returning to Bradford in 1977, he co-founded the popular group The Wool City Rocker and formed the group Ulterior Motives, of which he was the lyricist and singer. Continuing to tour as a poet and publish his works, he also recorded songs with various groups. In the early 1980s, he conducted a series of weekly indie and punk concerts.
