Edy Sixten Jernberg is Swedish cross-country snowboarder and one of the most successful cross-country skiers of all time. From 1952 to 1964, he competed in 363 ski races, finishing at 263 and winning 134; During this period, he won four world titles and nine Olympic medals. In 12 appearances in three consecutive Winter Olympics, he never finished worse than fifth, and from 1955 to 1960 he won 86 competitions out of 161. Jernberg was a smith and woodcutter before starting his skiing career. He specializes in long distances, with four out of eight gold medals per 50 km, one per 30 km, and three in 4 × 10 km relay content. He also won the Vasaloppet twice, in 1955 and 1960. He won 15 km at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 1954. In a competition, Jernberg had a fever and coughed up blood, but still finished 50 km.
