Theodore Roosevelt "Double Duty" Radcliffe is a professional baseball player in black tournaments. He is one of the few professional baseball players who have lived to be 100 years old. A double-track player, he plays as a pitcher and catcher, becomes a coach, and grows old a popular ambassador for the game. On death he was believed to be the oldest living professional baseball player, but it was later discovered that Silas Simmons was born seven years earlier, in 1895. Journalist Damon Runyon nicknamed "Double Duty" because Radcliffe played as wide receiver and pitcher in back-to-back 1932 single-handed games between the Pittsburgh Crawfords and the New York Black Yankees. In the first of two games at Yankee Stadium, Radcliffe forced pitcher Satchel Paige off the field, then forced the field in Game 2. Runyon wrote that Radcliffe "was worth twice as much admission."
