Amos Alonzo Stagg
Amos Alonzo Stagg is an American athlete and college coach in several sports, mainly American football. He used to be the head soccer coach at the YMCA International Training School, University of Chicago and the Pacific College, setting the college football record 314–199–35. His undefeated Chicago Maroons in 1905 and 1913 were recognized as national champions. He was also the head coach of basketball for one season in Chicago and head baseball coach for Maroons for nineteen seasons. In Chicago, Stagg also hosts an annual basketball tournament and follow-up meetings. Both attract top high school teams and athletes from all over the United States. Stagg played football after graduating from Yale and was selected for the US first team in 1889. He was inducted into the College Football Fame Hall as a player and coach. The trainer was in the subscription class of 1951 and was the only person honored in both roles until the 1990s
