Jaime Ramon "Jim" Paredes is the Filipino singer and songwriter best known as a member of the APO Hiking Society; Media figures, photographers, workshop moderators, writers, political activists and critics. Paredes' most important solo work, Handog ng Pilipino sa Mundo, became the song of the 1986 People's Power Revolution peacefully overthrowing the regime of Ferdinand Marcos. He was joined by 15 Filipino artists in April this year, and the English version "A New and Better Way" was released in Australia a few months later. In recognition of its importance, the song's lyrics were mounted on a wall in the Temple of Our Lady of EDSA, the Roman Catholic chapel that hallowed the 1986 Revolution.
