Sir Karl Raimund Popper is an Austro-English philosopher, academic and social commentator. One of the most influential scientific philosophers of the twentieth century, Popper is known for his rejection of the classical inductive view of the scientific method which promotes experimental falsification. According to Popper, a theory in experimental science can never be proven, but it can be misleading, which means that it can be examined by landmark experiments. Popper opposed the classical rationalist interpretation of knowledge, which he replaced by critical rationalism, namely "the first unjustifiable philosophy in the history of philosophy". In his political speech, he was known for his strong defense of liberal democracy and critical social principles which he believed could create a thriving open society.
