Richard Scott Bakker is a Canadian fiction author and regular speaker in the academic community in southwestern Ontario. He grew up on a tobacco farm in the Simcoe area. In 1986, he studied at the University of Western Ontario for a literary degree and then a master's degree in theory and criticism. Since the late 1990s, he has worked to unravel theories about the media bubble and working-class intellectual alienation. After completing his doctorate in philosophy at Vanderbilt University, he returned to London, Ontario, where he currently lives with his wife and daughter. He spends his time writing between the novel and his ongoing philosophical investigation.
