Sharon Helga Corr MBE is an Irish singer, songwriter, songwriter and television personality. She is best known as a member of the pop-rock group The Corrs, which she co-founded in 1990 with her brother Jim and sisters Caroline and Andrea. She plays the violin, piano and guitar and sings the accompaniment. She started learning the violin at the age of 6. She has performed in national youth orchestras and is qualified to teach violin. The Corr siblings were awarded an honorary MBE in 2005 by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of their musical talent and charitable work to raise funds for Freeman Hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne, victims of bombings from Omagh and other charities. On March 22, 2019, Corr received an honorary doctorate from the Open University, in recognition of his "outstanding contribution to education and culture". The ceremony took place at the Barbican Center, London.
