Matthew Jonathan Hyson is a retired American professional wrestler best known for his tenure in World Wrestling Entertainment as Spike Dudley. Before WWE, Hyson began playing Spike Dudley in the 1990s with Extreme Championship Wrestling; Spike Dudley character is a member of the Dudley Brothers. As part of the plot, colleagues Bubba Ray Dudley and D-Von Dudley betrayed the faction to form a separate team from Dudley Boyz; this leads to Hyson and his members joining a later feud with the duo. Dudley Boyz would eventually leave ECW for the World Wrestling Federation in 1999. During this time, Hyson remained at ECW and during his time he held two ECW Team World Championships alongside Balls Mahoney. Advertising went bankrupt in 2001, leading to Hyson joining WWF, where he reconciled with Ray and D-Von. Hyson occasionally appeared with his Kayfabe brothers, in addition to joining Tazz in winning the WWF Tag Team Championship.
