Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow è un poeta ed educatore americano con opere tra cui "Il viaggio di Paul Revere", Canzoni di Hiawatha ed Evangeline. Fu il primo americano a tradurre le Divine Songs di Dante Alighieri e fu uno dei poeti Fireside del New England. Longfellow è nato a Portland, nel Maine, allora ancora parte del Massachusetts. Ha studiato al Bowdoin College ed è diventato professore alla Bowdoin University e poi all'Università di Harvard dopo il suo periodo in Europa. Le sue prime importanti raccolte di poesie furono The Voice of the Night e Ballads e altre poesie.
