Stanley Forman Reed è un noto avvocato americano, è stato procuratore generale degli Stati Uniti dal 1935 al 1938 e vice procuratore generale della Corte suprema degli Stati Uniti dal 1938 al 1957. Nato nella contea di Mason, Kentucky, Reed ha fondato uno studio legale a Maysville, Kentucky e ha vinto l'elezione alla Camera dei rappresentanti del Kentucky. Ha frequentato la facoltà di giurisprudenza ma non si è laureato, il che lo ha reso l'ultimo giudice della Corte Suprema in carica che non si è laureato in giurisprudenza.
