Thomas Johann Seebeck
Thomas Johann Seebeck era un fisico baltico tedesco che, nel 1822, osservò una relazione tra calore e magnetismo. Più tardi, nel 1823, Ørsted chiamò questo fenomeno effetto termoelettrico. Seebeck nacque a Reval da una ricca famiglia di mercanti baltici tedeschi. Ha conseguito una laurea in medicina nel 1802 presso l'Università di Göttingen, ma ha preferito studiare fisica. Dal 1821 al 1823, Seebeck eseguì una serie di esperimenti cercando di comprendere le scoperte di Ørsted del 1820.
