Martinho da Vila is a Brazilian singer and songwriter considered one of the main representatives of the samba and MPB. He's a good musician, with hundreds of songs recorded in more than 40 solo albums. It also has many songs recorded by singers of different musical genres. Internationally renowned artists such as Nana Mouskouri, Ornella Vanoni, Katia Guerreiro, Rosario Flores contributed to the songs and lyrics of Martinho. As a singer, he is considered by critics to be one of the best samba performers to live with. Among his international collaborations, some notable names are Zeca Pagodinho, Arlindo Cruz, Chico Buarque, Beth Carvalho, Noel Rosa, Alcione, among others. In addition, Martinho composed some of the most important samba enredos and forged a strong partnership with the Vila Isabel Samba School. Despite being a self-taught and untrained singer / songwriter, Martinho has a great connection to classical music.
