Kalle Lasn is een Ests-Canadese filmmaker, auteur, tijdschriftuitgever en activist. Tegen het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog vluchtte zijn familie uit Estland en bracht Lasn enige tijd door in een Duits vluchtelingenkamp. Op zevenjarige leeftijd verhuisde hij met zijn gezin naar Australië, waar hij opgroeide en bleef tot het einde van de jaren zestig, studerend aan de Canberra School. Eind jaren zestig richtte hij een marktonderzoeksbureau op in Tokio en in 1970 verhuisde hij naar Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Twintig jaar lang maakte hij documentaires voor PBS en de National Film Board of Canada. Hij verblijft momenteel in Vancouver, British Columbia. Hij is mede-oprichter van het tijdschrift Adbusters en auteur van het boek Culture Jam and Design Anarchy en mede-oprichter van de Adbusters Media Foundation, eigenaar van het tijdschrift. Naar verluidt begon hij Adbusters nadat hij had onthuld dat er iets grondig mis was met het consumentisme. Het gebeurde op een parkeerplaats bij een supermarkt.
