Antoinette Monsio Sayeh is a Liberian economist and executive vice president of the International Monetary Fund. Sayeh was Director of the Africa Department of the IMF from July 14, 2008 to August 31, 2016. She is also an Outstanding Researcher at the Center for Global Development. Prior to her tenure at the IMF, she was Finance Minister from 2006 to 2008 in the cabinet of Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Sayeh is the second woman in Liberian history to hold the post, the first being Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Sayeh is a graduate of Swarthmore College and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, where she received her Masters and Doctorate degrees in International Economic Relations. Sayeh also worked for the World Bank as country director for Benin, Niger and Togo and worked on public finance management and civil service reform in Pakistan. According to the BBC, Sayeh "delighted international financial institutions" as Liberian finance minister.
