August Anthony Alsina Jr. is an American singer-songwriter from New Orleans, Louisiana, previously signed to Def Jam Recordings. He released his first mixtape The Product in 2012, followed by the mixtape The Product 2 and the first expansion track Downtown: Life Under the Gun in 2013. Alsina released his first album Testimony in 2014, followed by This Thing Called Life in 2015. His platinum sales singles are "I Luv This Shit" and "No Love". After leaving Def Jam, he released EP Forever and a Day in 2019. In 2020, Alsina released the album The Product III: State of Emergency, as well as a series of 5-part documentaries detailing the experiences. His life, his family and his health problems.

He first uploaded videos to YouTube in 2007 when he was fourteen years old and one of the first included him singing a cover of "Hypothetically" by Lyfe Jennings.
His 2013 single "I Luv This S***" featuring Trinidad James peaked at #48 on the US Billboard charts.
He came from a rough family, one in which his father and stepfather were addicted to cocaine and his older brother, Melvin III, was shot and killed in 2010. He has two other brothers, Travis and Jamal.
He collaborated with Jeezy on the 2014 track "Make It Home.".
