Glenn Edward "Bo" Schembechler Jr is an American football player, coach and sports manager. He served as head football coach at the University of Miami from 1963 to 1968 and at the University of Michigan from 1969 to 1989, setting a career record 234–65–8. Only Nick Saban, Joe Paterno and Tom Osborne scored 200 wins in fewer games as coaches in great college football. During the 21 seasons as head coach of the Michigan Wolverines, the Schembechler teams set a record 194–48–5 and won or shared 13 Big Ten Conference titles. Although his Michigan teams have never won the national championship, in all but one season, they have ranked and 16 times reached the final top 10 of the two main polls. Schembechler played college football as a rugby player at the University of Miami, where in 1949 and 1950 he was coached by Woody Hayes, with whom he served as an assistant coach at the University.
