Christy Clark
Christina Joan Clark is a former Canadian politician who served as the 35th premier of British Columbia, Canada from 2011 to 2017. Clark was sworn in as prime minister on March 14, 2011, after winning to lead the Party Liberal of British Columbia in 2011 to elect a leader on February 26, 2011. She was the second woman to serve as Premier of British Columbia, after Rita Johnston in 1991; and was the first female prime minister in Canada to lead her party by a majority of seats in two consecutive general elections. Although she lost her seat in her first election, she led the BC Liberal Party to win another five seats to gain a larger majority in the BC legislature. After that, a member elected in the Liberal caucus withdrew to have a sub-election in an election, to give her a seat in the House of Representatives. In the second leadership election, she led her party to 43 of the 87 constituencies.
