Darrell Royal
Darrell K Royal is an American football player and coach. He served as head coach at Mississippi State University, University of Washington and University of Texas, founding college football achievements 184–60–5. During his 20 seasons in Texas, Royal teams won three national championships, 11 Southwestern Conference titles, and accumulated a 167–47–5 record. He has won more games than any other coach in Texas Longhorns football history. Royal also coached the Edmonton Eskimos team of the Canadian Football Federation for one season in 1953. He never had a losing season as head coach during his career. Royal was a comprehensive American at the University of Oklahoma where he played football from 1946 to 1949. He was inducted into the College Football Fame Hall in 1983. Darrell K Royal - Fantasy Stadium Memorial Texas in Austin, Texas, where the Longhorns play their home game, was renamed in his honor in 1996.
