David H Hubel
David Hunter Hubel is a Canadian-American neurophysiologist best known for studying the structure and function of the visual cortex. He was co-recipient of the 1981 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Torsten Wiesel for their discoveries concerning information processing in visual systems. For most of his career, Hubel was professor of neurobiology at John Franklin Enders College, Harvard Medical School. In 1978, Hubel and Wiesel received the Louisa Gross Horwitz Prize from Columbia University. In 1983, Hubel received the Gold Plate Award from the American Academy of Achievement.
