David Jude Jolicoeur, also known as Trugoy the Dove and more recently Dave, is a rapper, producer and a third of the hip hop trio De La Soul. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, but raised in East Massapequa. Jolicoeur, Vincent Mason and Kelvin Mercer were high school classmates in the Amityville neighborhood of Long Island in the 1980s. After deciding to form a rap group, each member named themselves with a strange name. Early on, Jolicoeur showed a unique style of African medals, peace signs and uneven dreadlocks. Coupled with the positive messages about the group's early efforts, 3 Feet High and Rising, this image has led critics and reporters to label the members "hip hop hippies." Jolicoeur is also a member of the Spitkicker team. He is widely recognized for his rap part of the second line of popular Gorillaz song "Feel Good Inc."
