Dennis Graham Holt is an American poet, linguist and translator. Born in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, Holt graduated from Van Nuys High School in Los Angeles in 1960. Holt then attended the California Institute of Technology, the University of California, Berkeley and UCLA, receiving a final degree at No. four of this diploma. in linguistics. From September 1966 to November 1969 he served in the Peace Corps in Bolivia, worked with cooperative coffee grinders in the province of Nor Yungas, then taught English as a second language at the Instituto Anglo-Americano from Oruro. After serving in the Peace Corps, Holt returned to Los Angeles in 1970, where he quickly attended the Venetian Poetry Workshop at the Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center in the city's Venice Beach District, an association that has continued for most of the 1970s
