Some of her notable roles are Emma Peel in the TV series The Avengers; Countess Teresa di Vicenzo, wife of James Bond, in On Her Majesty's Secret Service; Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones and in her concerts as Medea on Broadway and in the UK. Rigg has had a successful career and life in theater, making her professional theatrical debut in 1957 in The Caucasian Chalk Circle and joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1959. She debuted on Broadway in Abelard & Heloise in 1971. She starred in Medea, both in London and New York, where she won the 1994 Tony Award for Best Actress in a play. She was chosen as CBE in 1988 and Dame in 1994 for dramatic services. She has appeared in numerous television dramas and films, playing the role of Helena in A Midsummer Night's Dream; Lady Holiday in the Great Muppet Caper; and Arlena Marshall in The Devil Under the Sun.
