It is often said that she was a member of the Friends Association; and there are several reasons for this assumption. Over time, and book after book, certain events in his personal history were known and occasionally mentioned in the public press. But for a very long time, little was known about his real life, and many mistakes happened. His poem, "I'm not smart to understand," was put to music by William J. Kirkpatrick. A contemporary version of it, "My Savior My God", is a 2006 radio single by contemporary Christian musician, Aaron Shust, from his album, Anything Worth Say.
